Silver Falls First Day Hike - Jan. 1, 2020

Two hikes will be offered at Silver Falls this year, and each will be repeated, for a total of four hikes. The 9 am and 1 pm hikes will encompass the 1 mile loop around South Falls. Visitors will learn about the geology and history of the park and walk behind 177-foot tall South Falls. The 10 am and 2 pm hikes will explore the temperate rainforest of Silver Falls. Discover the many layers of life present in our complex forest and marvel at everything from tiny birds to giant trees.

Meet At: South Falls Lodge Porch

Trail Name: 9 am and 1 pm – South Falls Loop, 10 am and 2 pm – Rim Trail/Bike Trail Loop

Trail Terrain: Moderate

Length of Hike: 1 mile

Recommended minimum age: 6 years old

Things to Note: No dogs. Dogs permitted on a 6-foot leash at 10 am and 2 pm hikes. Dogs not permitted on 9 am and 1 pm hikes. Bring water, snacks, and be prepared for inclement weather and trail conditions. Dress in layers and bring a raincoat.
