First Day Hike 2025 - Oregon Coast Trail Section Fogarty Creek to Boiler Bay

This hike will be a down and back trip along the Oregon Coast Trail from Fogarty Creek State Park to almost reaching Boiler Bay State Park. The turnaround point will be at the dirt lot approx. 1/4 mile from the Boiler Bay State Park. Entire length of the hike will be around 2 1/2 miles.

Fogarty Creek State Park
2900 N Hwy 101
Depoe Bay, OR 97341

We will be meeting near the restroom on the north side of the park to begin the hike.

It is a moderately difficult section of the OCT with about 60 ft of elevation change. There are two rock stair sections with no hand railing that require sure footing.  About 400 ft of the trail runs along the shoulder of Hwy 101.  Any children on the hike must have close supervision from guardians due to the trails proximity to the busy highway.

Please bring closed toed shoes that have good traction for some possible slick sections of trail and for navigating rock staircases. Also, warm layers and rain gear are recommended in case of Winter stormy weather.

The terrain varies from dirt trail, gravel, rock stairs, and walking on the shoulder of Hwy 101.  Parts of the trail can have uneven surfaces. Plan accordingly for hiking through possible wet and muddy sections of the trail.

Please no dogs on this hike.

The turnaround point does not reach the Boiler Bay State Park due to a large section of walking along Hwy 101.
