Join us for a winter wonderland New Year’s Day adventure on January 1, 2025! Hike with our rangers as we stroll along the Wood River. Be prepared for cold weather and potentially snowy or icy conditions. Dress warm! Sturdy hiking boots and traction devices highly recommended. If there is enough snow, bring snowshoes. Call the park at 541-783-2471 prior to Dec. 29 for updates and details, or to make a reasonable accommodation request. We value access for all participants and are happy to provide reasonable accommodations provided they are submitted by Dec. 29. Pets are welcome, and must be on a leash at all times (no longer than 6 feet in length). Bring water for the hike.
We will walk from the Klamath Outdoor Science School (across the street from Jackson F. Kimball campground), along Sun Creek Road for an out and back hike. Round trip the hike will be about 3 miles with less than 50 feet of elevation gain. As we return, we will make a side trip into Jackson F. Kimball and visit the headwaters of the Wood River. We will have a warm bonfire waiting for you with hot and cold drinks and snacks. Restrooms will also be available at Jackson F Kimball.
Time: 11am- 1pm
Meeting location: Klamath Outdoor Science School parking lot
