The kayak tours are designed for beginning kayakers and kayakers of all skill levels. The entire tour takes about 4 hours, which includes a review of skills and technique, safety orientation and kayaking the Sand Lake Estuary from Clay Myers State Natural Area. Clay Myers SNA is located North of Pacific City along the Three Capes Scenic Loop.
Sand Lake Estuary is one of only two major estuaries in the state designated as natural due to very little agricultural or commercial development. This aquatic system features an intertidal salt marsh, tidal channels and forested wetlands that connect to a number of stream systems. Kayaking through the Sand Lake Estuary offers participants an incredible opportunity to glimpse the complexity and biodiversity of a healthy, connected estuarine ecosystem.
